June Product Favorites | emma-elsewhere.com

I typically start my monthly favorites posts with a bit of a retrospective on the past thirty or so days. When I look back on June it is a bit of a blur. I think about the books I’ve read, the places I’ve been and the people I’ve shared memories with. Here are the products that have been a part of my routine throughout June – making it easier to focus less on my beauty routine and more on what life is actually about.

AVEENO PURE RENEWAL SHAMPOO

I’ve talked about scalp issues on my blog before, and I’ve spoken about the Redken shampoo that helped to get rid of any flaking problems that I had. The Redken shampoo has pyrithione zinc, which is great for combatting dandruff but not something that I wanted to wash my hair with everyday. I wanted to be able to have a balanced scalp and hydrated hair – at the same time. What a concept. During my usual perusal of Target’s beauty aisles I discovered this Aveeno shampoo. What drew me to this product was the text on the front – “refreshes and rebalances for healthy manageability”. Consider me sold. I just finished up this bottle and I couldn’t be happier with the results. My hair is soft, not frizzy and my scalp feels balanced and hydrated. A+, Aveeno.

COLOURPOP BLUSH IN APHRODISIAC

I mentioned this blush in my ColourPop Haul, but wanted to go into depth in this favorites post. Because I LOVE this blush more than anything. It is actually a soft brown shade that can be used for contouring as well but wearing it as a blush is super flattering. It warms up your face, while subtly sculpting it. I reach for this blush nearly everyday because it matches any eye look and is not overpowering.

MAYBELLINE COLOR TATTOO CONCENTRATED CRAYON

Maybelline Color Tattoo Crayon Swatches | emma-elsewhere.com

This find may be my favorite of the month. When I first purchased these crayons I wasn’t expecting anything more than a pretty cream eyeshadow. I had used the Maybelline Color Tattoo cream eyeshadows that come in pots before and hadn’t been super impressed. They tended to dry out and I didn’t notice that they lasted particularly long. These Color Tattoo crayons made me do a 180. I own two shades – Bronze Truffle (top) and Barely Beige (bottom). My favorite way to wear this product is as a primer underneath powder eyeshadow. Both of my shades have a slightly metallic finish which looks GORGEOUS underneath extra-shimmery shadows like the ones in my LORAC Unzipped Palette. The best part about these products – they do NOT fade away. The swatches that I photographed for this post didn’t come off even after a shower and a full night’s sleep. Seriously.

URBAN DECAY NAKED SKIN COLOR CORRECTING FLUID IN PEACH

I have a dark circle problem – and correct me if I’m wrong but I think that most of us look in the mirror in the morning, glance at our undereye area and just think “ugh.” When the color correcting trend started to blow up I quickly began to watch every YouTube video dedicated to it – trying to figure out which formula would be best to cover up the bruise-like shadows under my eyes. Almost unanimously, the beauty experts that I worship recommended the Urban Decay Naked Skin Color Correcting Fluid in Peach. They did not steer me wrong. This color corrector is creamy and opaque, quickly canceling out any blue undertones without looking cakey. After falling for this product I’m definitely going to try the concealer in the Naked Skin range. Consider me hooked.

UNUM

Let’s start off this section with a reminder that this is a judgment free zone. Don’t roll your eyes at what I’m about to say – I’m obsessed with having an Instagram theme. If you know me, you know that I can talk about an aesthetic for hours, will spend multiple minutes debating whether two photos look good together and can fangirl over perfect accounts until the cows come home. A few of my favorites are here, here, herehere and here. In order to have a really curated Instagram, it’s necessary to plan your posts ahead – even minimally. This app called UNUM allows you to plan your posts out ahead of time to see how your grid would look in a certain order, how your photos would complement each other and even lets you set reminders to post at specific times. This app is my new Instagram lifeblood and I think that I will feel more inspired knowing that the photos I’m taking don’t have to be posted immediately, that they don’t have to match the exact tones of my last post and that every image can find its perfect place in my feed – eventually.
